"Floral Word"
"Floral Word"
36" x 48" x 1.5"
Word is the smallest free form in a language. Floral is the reproductive structure found in flowering plants. According to Harkrader, words can be sexy and/or reproductive, especially in this painting. Some of the letter-words are collage and some are hand-painted-falling away from those above. Inside the dark center of the red floral shape resides a 'sex in the city' collage. Other embedded collage words is an image torn from an art magazine that shows a well know artist's word images projected on urban architecture. There is text from an antique book in Greek and excerpts from the 'Woman's Comfort Book'. Florals, live or rendered, are erotic in shape and definition, alluring in smell and sight. The previous sentence are words, therefore words can be erotic and alluring.
